Children Suffer the Most from
Radiation Exposure

Children are most at risk of suffering from radiation exposure due to their smaller weight, height and more active metabolism. They receive five to six times more radioactivity than adults.
Children who have been exposed to radiation from the Fukushima nuclear accident should be taking ProPectin now to assist the body in flushing harmful Cesium-137 (Cs-137) from their systems.
According to Chernobyl Children International (CCI), the impact of childhood illness and infant deformities after the nuclear accident at Chernobyl in 1986 is profound. An April 26, 2011 report states: "Between the stricken regions of Belarus, western Russia and Northern Ukraine, the UN estimates that the fallout has directly and indirectly affected as many as seven million people, with children being most vulnerable to the deadly effects of radiation and inadequate medical treatment."
Here are a few facts released by CCI regarding the children contaminated by the Chernobyl nuclear accident:
- In Belarus today, 85% of the children in contaminated areas are ill; before the explosion this figure was 15% (the Belarusian National Academy of Sciences)
- Doctors at the Children's Cancer Hospital in Minsk, Belarus and at the Vilne Hospital for Radiological Protection in Ukraine are seeing a spike in cancer rates, mutations and blood diseases with a direct link to the Chernobyl disaster.
- Children and teenagers today are most at risk of developing thyroid cancer. Radioactive Iodine 131 in the mother's body crosses the placental barrier and penetrates the fetus where it predominately accumulates in the thyroid to develop into a potential killer over the next few years.
- Five years after the disaster, the Ukrainian Ministry of Health reported three times the normal rate of deformities and developmental abnormalities in newborn children, as well as an increased number of miscarriages, premature births and stillbirths.
- Heart disease in Belarus has quadrupled since the accident, caused by the accumulation of radioactive Cesium-137 (Cs-137) in the cardiac muscle. Doctors report a high incidence of multiple defects of the heart–a condition coined "Chernobyl Heart." Without corrective surgery, children born with this condition can look forward to a very short life span–many of them will die within three to five years.
In addition, in their book, Chernobyl: Consequences of the Catastrophe for People and the Environment, Alexey V. Yablokov, Vassily B. Nesterenko and Alexey V. Nesterenko report the following increases in children's diseases and malformations in Belarus from 1986-1997: (1)
- Hormones and immune system diseases: 300-fold
- Digestive diseases: 213. 4-fold
- Respiratory diseases: 108.8-fold
- Bones and connective tissue diseases: 70.7-fold
- Skin diseases: 44.7-fold
- Blood and blood-forming diseases: 21.2-fold
- Circulatory diseases: 13.3-fold
- Mental disorders: 9.1-fold
- Congenital malformations: 6.7-fold

ProPectin™ is a pure, pharmaceutical-grade, soluble apple pectin product formulated to safely and effectively assist the body in flushing dangerous Cs-137 from the system. In a study conducted by the Belrad Institute of Radiation Safety in Minsk, Republic of Belarus, the average reduction of Cs-137 levels in children compared to those taking a placebo and eating only "clean" food was 63.6% (2).
