Mexico City is considered one of the most polluted cities in the world.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>Ozone levels were almost twice the acceptable limit<\/h2>\n<div>\n<p>Older and more heavily polluting vehicles were\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/bigstory.ap.org\/article\/d54f3d00d5bd4054959b33d3f67e1032\/mexico-city-declares-first-air-pollution-alert-2005\" target=\"_blank\">required to stay off the road<\/a>\u00a0in Mexico City on Tuesday in an attempt to improve air quality after the government declared an air pollution alert on Monday, its first in 11 years.<\/p>\n<p>Ozone levels in the city reached nearly twice the acceptable limit, the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/bigstory.ap.org\/article\/d54f3d00d5bd4054959b33d3f67e1032\/mexico-city-declares-first-air-pollution-alert-2005\" target=\"_blank\">Associated Press reported<\/a>\u00a0on Monday night.<\/p>\n<p>A recent court order relaxed a rule that had discouraged the use of cars more than eight years old.
