China is the most populous country on the planet, and with economic growth rate at over 10% the environment is paying a heavy toll.<\/p>\n<p>Pollution in China remains largely \u00a0unchecked and as a result the country\u00a0contains some of the dirtiest air in the world. Hence why people walk through the city wearing dust masks for protection against the thick clouds of smog.\u00a0China is home to many\u00a0polluted,\u00a0unusable waterways, as well as swaths of garbage-infested\u00a0land.<\/p>\n<p>These shocking photos reveal how bad China\u2019s pollution problem has become.\u00a0Hopefully these images help spark action before it\u2019s too late!<\/p>\n<h3>1. For instance, in 2010 China was ranked as the leading investor in low-carbon energy technology.<\/p>\n<p>Even though Chinese leaders are vowing to change and look after the planet\u2019s interests, it\u2019s going to be difficult with such rapid expansion, especially considering how bad China\u2019s\u00a0pollution problems\u00a0remain.<\/p>\n<h3>4. In order to keep costs down factories shortcut important steps, and as a result entire ecosystems have been destroyed.
